DeFazio and Nathan dis agree about the government's role in funding education Delazio said if re-elei ted he would work to prevent President George Hush's likely proposed cuts in grants and loans in order to preserve the cur rent levels of government funding De Fazio would like to go track to the lev ids of funding that were provided for students ten years ago. which is about tilt to 70 percent more than what is now available. Ikd azio said he would also like to alroiish the current student loan sys tem and would create a new program to provide funds for students. He calls for a system in which the government would loan money dins tl\ to students and not through a bank, ho said.
